Wesgro approached Ruby Digital with the challenge of creating a resource to assist businesses in navigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our focus included developing a tool to help businesses find support or disaster relief funding information tailored to their specific needs, as well as creating an easy-to-use marketplace for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) relevant to the Coronavirus crisis.
Ruby Digital was tasked with designing a website to provide relevant information to South African business owners and offer an efficient interface for businesses to interact with customers and visitors online during the Covid-19 pandemic. The project’s primary goal was to create an effective website with superior customer experience, utilizing design best practices, custom tools, and user experience feedback.
The website was also intended to include resources to assist various business owners with relief funds and to develop an eCommerce portal for suppliers to register and sell products.
A key component of the project was the development of a custom Fund Finder tool, which would offer an overview of numerous available funding and relief measures for businesses in the Western Cape. Additionally, creating a marketplace would connect corporations seeking to purchase Personal Protective Equipment for their businesses and employees with manufacturers and suppliers.
We set out to build a simple yet well-designed website that featured Wesgro’s COVID-19 best practices, lockdown level parameters, and other relevant business information. We designed the Support Business website with a focus on customer experience while also being SEO friendly. While we handled adding high-resolution pictures with alt tags, optimizing the coding, sitemaps, and URL mappings Ruby Digital, RubyWeb’s parent company, assisted in SEO tasks, namely conducting detailed keyword research, implementing title tags, ensuring IP address redirection to the domain name and creating and optimizing the Google Analytics and Google My Business accounts.
The site was designed to showcase respective partners and provide internal links to various resources and support pages. We set these up effectively, along with a banner for awareness and contact assistance. The primary goal of the website was to provide information and resources to businesses. To achieve this, we created a set of FAQs for each industry, which were developed on the site. This content can be indexed and found organically through Google searches, increasing awareness and readership.
To provide the requested Fund Finder functionality, we initially searched for an existing tool that included all the required features. However, due to the unavailability of such a tool, we developed this unique tool ourselves. It offers an overview of numerous available funding and relief measures, filtering information based on business characteristics, type of support needed, and other criteria. This required a complex mapping of relevant information to the criteria asked during the questioning stage, ensuring only applicable information is displayed.
We also created a unique South African online marketplace platform that connects corporations looking to purchase Personal Protective Equipment for their businesses and staff with manufacturers and suppliers.
Wesgro’s Support Business initiative, previously known as Support Business, offers a virtual team of sectoral and communication experts dedicated to assisting businesses in navigating the uncertainty caused by diverse sources of information during the Coronavirus crisis. The website provided tools, guidelines, and best practices to help companies build resilience for both the present and future. Previously, the Support Business website was merged with Wesgro’s primary website, consolidating both websites into one.
